"My stay at Weep Not Child foundation was the best experience I’ve ever had in my life"

The daily life at the foundation was wonderful, it was a big difference to my daily life in Sweden but it did not take very long for me to get used to it. The kids are real
sunrays and I loved them all from the beginning. The people in Ghana are the
most helpful and friendly person’s I’ve ever met. Everybody wants you to have
the best vitiation as possible and everybody wants to take care of you. If you ride in a trotro (local bus) the other passengers could move to the side just so that I would feel comfortable and good. Everybody is asking you if you’re okay and how you feel. The only thing that I thought was less good was their perception of time, but this was only because I’m not used to it. They could be really slow sometime and that was quite hard at some moments when you where in a hurry. The orphanage was wonderful, I don’t know how to describe it in some other ways. I think of the kids’ everyday and about how much I want to go back. The best thing was of course the kids’, you get so close to them in just two weeks. They are so open to you from the beginning, they see you as their hero. They all give you so much love all the time it’s incredible. Everybody wants you attention all the time.

One other thing that’s also really amazing is the people that work at the orphanage. Comfort, who started the orphanage, has given so much to these kids, she has given her
whole life. And now she has no money for herself because she gives it all to the orphanage. The other thing was a guy called Al-Hassan, who is the person that takes care of all the financial stuff, he works at the orphanage for free so he don’t take out any salary. The kids see him as their father, he sleeps on the floor in the boy’s room. Both of these two are real heroes and I wish that there would be more persons like them in the world. The other staff is also great, both to the kids and to the volunteers.

One other thing that I thought was great was that we as volunteers lived in a separate house at the orphanage. So we stayed with the kids all day long. We all got two kids each to take care of, so at first we brushed their teeth’s, and then we bathed them and fed them. If some of the kids got sick it was our responsibility to take them to a hospital. It was great that we got our ‘’own’’ kids, because then you had something on your shoulders to take care of and that was good.  The rest of the day we played with the kids, learned them to spell and writ in English. We could also help with the dishes or the washing of the clothes, it was all up to us. Just being there with them, playing and giving them love was the thing that I liked the
most. The best trip I’ve ever done in my life, and I will never forget the kids and how much love they have given me. I have a whole new way of seeing things now.
